At 7 pm, this June 9, 2025, Apple should lift the veil in the new versions of its various operating systems. If in 2024, artificial intelligence would have had priority over everything else, this time it should be relegated to the bottom.
In question, repeated delays in this area and, above all, a new Siri, the personal assistant in Mac, iPhone and iPad, who should not see the light of the day before 2026.
An internal war in the heart of the debacle
In a long investigation carried out by the information, there are the reasons for this debacle: internally, nothing is going well. According to several sources gathered by the American site, it is a lack of cohesion and discussions between the AI teams, the software and those of Siri that would be involved.
Robby Walker, then responsible for the development of the assistant, did not consider the interest of AI to allow Siri to evolve in the right direction. Nor would he have taken the opportunity to add a language model to Siri’s results to be more “human” in his answers.
Worse, it would have created internal conflicts between Siri and Craig Federight teams, then software manager. This would have designed models and demonstrations without informing John Giannandrea, a former Google who is in charge of Apple Intelligence.
When he was born at the end of 2022, again, John Giannandrea would not have maintained the interest of this chatbot, and if Craig Federighi had designed demonstrations using Operai models, Apple’s address would prefer to press for homemade models, with much less impressive results than those of Openai.
The result is an internal cacophony, which led to the presentation of the WWDC 2024. At that time, Apple presented a more “personal” Siri with functions in which the assistant can scan a page in use by the user.
But problem: none of this is real.
Let’s give false to wwdc 2024
The information reveals that all this sequence is just a montage of projects that have not been decided, in particular the colorful effect on the borders that mean that Siri is being used. The same goes for the question of the data, which would be managed both locally and in the cloud for the most complex tasks. But this commitment, pressed by Apple to maintain its image as a personal data protector, would not have managed to function as expected.
A year later, Mass is said: Apple cannot deliver the new Siri before 2026, and the essential characteristics of Apple’s intelligence have been distributed as the last months, without contributing to making the company a size in terms of AI.
John Giannandrea and Robby Walker were also asked to change the branch. They were replaced by Craig Federight and Mike Rockwell. For the latter, the choice is curious: in fact it was at the head of the Vision Pro project, the mixed reality headphones launched in 2024. The non -successful product has had no impact on its appointment.
While the WWDC 2025 is preparing, Apple must choose to set aside AI, although its competitors such as Google or Microsoft have already taken off. Very late on the subject, Apple, therefore, is now based on the planned review of its operating systems. Therefore, iOS 19 should be called iOS 26, enough to prepare, since it must be released from the characteristics not published over time, and not once a year, as what Google does with Android. The new Siri, whose development “progresses” according to Tim Cook, in May 2025.
A “new Siri” that could not be called that, since according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple would leave this name.
What is certain is that it seems that Apple was forced to build its vision of ia in front of the advances of OpenAi and Google. Promoted by investors to act, the company led by Tim Cook must now pay the broken pots of an organization, it seems imperfect.
