Disney and NBCuniversal (a subsidiary of Coblo-Post Comcast) describes Midjourney as “a digital distributor, which generates unauthorized copies of work” produced by the studies of the two entertainment giants, according to the document of the assignment presented in the Court on Wednesday.

The two groups estimate the billing published by Midjourney in 2024, only two years after their creation at $ 300 million after their creation. They ask justice to order Midjourney not to use its content without permission, but also the return of the income generated, as well as the payment of damages.
They believe that under current texts, the generative ai platform could be sanctioned up to $ 150,000 per work. Requested by AFP, Midjourney did not follow up immediately.
Many of the generative companies involved for content deviation believe that they are covered by the legal concept of fair use (“fair use”), which probably limits the application of intellectual property right.
