Arch has warned five pornographic sites that have not implemented a system to verify the age of its users, the first step before a possible block, the digital gendarme said Thursday.
Established in Cyprus or in the Czech Republic and accessible in France, these sites (Xnxx, Xvideos, Xhamster, Xhamsterlive and TNAFLIX) do not respect the law of 2024 that obliges the editors of X sites to establish an identification system that prevents the minor from accessing them.
Therefore, the authority sent them “a letter of observations, the first step before a possible blockade and referencing, in case of persistence of the violation,” he said in a statement. The Arcom “in parallel its intention to act to the interested national authorities, according to the European commitments of France,” he added.
Debate on age verification
The Digital Gendarme also specified not to be “intervened, at this stage, with the services provided by the Aylo Group”, a parent company of the youporn, Pornhub and Redtube platforms. The latter has made its content inaccessible in France since last week, to protest against this obligation to verify the age of users.
According to a study conducted in the first half of 2024 by Arcom, almost 40% of children in France access pornographic sites every month. The editors of the site must demand the sending of a photo or an identity document, for example, offering at least one method that respects the principle of double anonymity that allows its majority to be demonstrated without revealing their identity.
Aylo, who claimed seven million daily visitors from France on their various platforms, defends an age verification in terms of devices and its operating system.
Other countries, such as the United Kingdom or Germany, also impose restrictions on access to Age -related X sites.
