One hundred projects each year

“We will choose to support works based on their artistic quality, their technical mastery and their potential for dissemination, particularly at an international level,” specifies the institution, which supports “a hundred new immersive projects” each year.

A fan of new technologies, Jean-Michel Jarre, 74, is used to futuristic musical experiences. In particular, he had produced a show in the heart of the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral in computer generated images.

Last year he became an ambassador for the young Russian film set Sensorium Galaxy, which wants to offer “high-end” immersive cultural experiences such as exhibitions or shows in virtual reality.

Towards a French metaverse

“Just as we were at the origin of cinema, we must also be at the beginning and at the birth of this mode of expression that will be the greatest mode of expression of the 21st century,” he had added.

“Immersive creation is a field of innovation that synthesizes the creative, technological and business challenges capable of projecting the entire French image industry on this new digital continent,” CNC president Dominique Boutonnat said, quoted in the press release.

“It is also a real issue of international sovereignty and influence that we need to fully understand,” he continued.
