Between 20 and 75 euros: Canal+ compensate their customers after an increase in their prices in 2018

After 7 years, customers are finally compensated. According to a press release, Canal+ and the Association of Consumers, UFC-Que Choisir, have managed to agree on the reimbursement of certain consumers.

On February 1, 2018, all Canal+ subscribers saw the price of their subscription automatically. A practice denounced by the Choisir of UFC-QU, who made negotiations with the French audiovisual giant in 2021.

Customers in question may receive a sum that ranges between 20 and 75 euros, depending on the subscription offer to which they have signed. People are eligible whose subscription price has increased as of February 1, 2018 and who did not immediately ask for a return to their former Canal+offer.

How to receive compensation

Depending on your situation, here is the approach to follow:

• If Channel+is subscribed: you will directly receive an email or postal mail form within fifteen days if you worry. Then it will be necessary to enter your name, first name and subscriber number
• If you have finished your subscription between May 31, 2020 and May 31, 2025 (included): you will also receive an email or postal mail form within two weeks if you can benefit from the offer. This time it will be necessary to enter your name, your name name, your previous subscriber number, one of your contact data on the previous contract (postal address, telephone number, email address) and your current postal address
• Finally, if your subscription has ended before May 31, 2020: you must communicate with Canal+, by email or by mail, specify your name, your first name, your previous subscriber number and your current postal address, as well as the copy of any management communication received between 2018 and May 31, 2020 and containing this number of subscribers or a bank extract

Regardless of your situation, it will be necessary to carry out the process before December 31, 2025 to benefit from this reimbursement. A recognition of receipt will be sent to all those who have sent their form.

For customers still subscribed to Canal+services, the transferred amount will come directly to the next invoices. For others, the company will send a check for the amount due to its postal address.
