The last day of a trial more than 100,000 victims, the defense of the main defendant in the hacking of millions of personal data in Adecco and other cyber-species, begged Thursday in Lyon the “immaturity” of a simple “intermediary”, perhaps threatened by real milestones.
The previous day, prosecutor Amélie Djaoudo had requested 7 years in prison against Timothée Lhomond, 22, “central character” of a “association of criminals” recruited for a “constellation of online scams (…) very lucrative.”
“Immaturity”
His lawyers refuted the term “boss” or “brain”, instead of representing a “intermediary” victim of his “immaturity” and a “boastful” propensity.
Lhomond, from 17 to 20 years for about 20 crimes in an organized gang, “is judged with 12 co -presidents, in an extraordinary trial with more than 6,400 civil parties defended by 362 lawyers.
The youthful face of great paleness and obviously proved, swore on Thursday that “these very serious crimes realize today” and “promised to rebuild his life.”
The arrest, in 2022, of a young apprentice and then a fixed term contract in Adecco, who had sold Lhomond and complicit his access to the personal database of millions of temporary work giants, had been the trigger for the survey.
But Lhomond and other defendants had begun their misdeeds online long before multiplying them thanks to Adecco data and, in addition to people, to disappoint banks, insurance and state organizations, such as the Caisse des dépôts et consignations (CDC), the latter for 2.2 million euros of public money.
And Lhomond, the only one that appeared in Virgin’s criminal history, continued these scams in prison until 2024, thanks to a smartphone.
The “brain of the” or “intermediary” operation?
“I had very large debts and, in prison, they made me understand that they were not canceled,” he begged the helm, without saying more.
“I believe it,” said his lawyer Vanessa Zencker on Thursday. “He is not the ‘brain’ of the case described by the press”, “not at the origin of as the Prosecutor’s Office says”, “not the boss as a cofamily was convened.”
He assured them that “he achieved” false accounts, but it was “by boasting.” Rather, he was “an intermediary”, “confronted with people who make great scams.” “And we know that in similar cases, there are murders, extortion and prison pressures.”
Lhomond is “a nursery”, judged “immature” by psychological experience, solenne advanced hustache, his other advice. “Seven firm years, it would be to sign his death stop,” Zencker argued, raising a sentence that covers his 21 months of pretrial detention and a possible stay, “not to cut it with any hope of reintegration.”
Mrs. Djaoudo required sentences of a few months suspended at 3 years of signature for the other 12 defendants.
