New bet on sustainable electronics. The Dutch company Fairphone has just lifted the veil in its latest smartphone model, “The Fairphone”. It will remain in the line of its predecessors, namely a highly repairable model, part of the components is recycled.
Recycled and origin materials, neutral in electronic waste and produced from green energy, this phone is especially transparent with buyers. The manufacturer affirms that he has also dedicated himself to the power of his phone, a point often criticized for his previous models.
High repair
The Fairphone brand stands out from its competitors with very high repair. The Fairphone 4 and 5 reached a 9.3 of 10 note according to a specialized platform in the repair index.
The purpose of this initiative is to extend the total useful life of the device, since in the case of a broken part, it is easily replaceable. Among these components are the battery, the screen, the camera or the USB port.
In this sixth model, the company states that 50 % of the materials used are fair or recycled, where Fairphone 5 increased to 42 % since the phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, an average range chip with adequate performance. The battery, on the other hand, would reach a maximum autonomy of 53 hours after the recharge.
Two modes of operation
The manufacturer has also integrated a hybrid mode called “Fairphone Moments.” It allows you to use your phone in two modes: a classic mode, to use your device normally and a minimalist mode. The user can change from one way to another from a button located on the device side.
With respect to the minimalist mode, it opens an alternative home page from which you can only access five applications: camera, browser, maps, messages and telephone. Fairphone, therefore, wants to reduce any distraction through this way, in particular by eliminating notifications. The whole mode can be customized to add other applications and activate certain notifications.
The manufacturer is based on this sixth telephone generation with an initial price of around 600 euros (available in most sales sites for telephone operators). It arrives after Fairphone 5, with the yield considered very average for a price of around 700 euros when it is released.
