“An artistic provocation”: The Velvet Slown Group, with 1 million subscribers in Spotify, admits to having been generated by AI

After allowing the doubt, Velvet Sundown group admitted to having been generated by Ia. It had already been labeled as “100% generated by AI” by Deezer.

The mystery finally rises. During the last days, Internet users worldwide have been wondering: is Velvet’s atherco group an AI group? And after many adventures, the Cleaver fell. The band has recognized that it is actually generated by AI.

In its new biography in Spotify, the group admits to be “a synthetic music project guided by a human artistic direction, composed (…) and illustrated with the support of artificial intelligence.”

A hoax detected by Deezer

It all started last June when the velvety mysteriously appeared on Spotify. In less than a month, the rockers have produced two complete albums and gathered more than 1.1 million subscribers on their Spotify page. Some of their pieces have almost 800,000 listening.

A dazzling success that aroused some doubts from Internet users. Some are convinced: the group, promotional photos and even music have been generated by AI. Its total absence of social networks before June 2025 and the sounds of the songs, considered too generic, also put certain Internet users on the track.

If the group had denied through their X account, a so -called band spokesman had finally recognized the facts. Finally, the famous spokesman admitted not belonging to the band.

Deezer’s IA tool, Rival Spotify, had shown a warning indicating “content generated by AI”. “Some songs from this album may have been created using artificial intelligence,” he said.

Requested by AFP, Spotify has refused to comment on the group itself, but has challenged any desire to prosper pieces generated by AI so as not to have to donate the copy rights. “We do not favor or financially benefit from the music created by Ai Tools,” said a spokesman in an email to AFP. “All pieces are created, detained and placed online by allowed third parties.”
