Eastwood. This is the name of the operation that led to the dismantling of the group of computer pirates that Prorustos Noname057 (16) announced the Europol and Eurojust agencies. He is responsible for multiple attacks aimed at Ukraine and his allies, particularly by attacking a significant infrastructure in Europe.
“During an action day on July 15, the Botnet, which used hundreds of computer systems worldwide, was dismantled and several suspects were identified, whose main instigators resided in the Russian Federation,” European agencies said in a statement.
Seven arrest orders
The operation involved twelve countries and led to the arrest of two people, one in France and another in Spain, they said. “Germany has issued six arrest orders against suspects residing in the Russian Federation. Two of them are accused of being the main instigators of Nonames057 activities (16),” said Europol.
In total, the authorities issued seven arrest orders, pointing to six Russian nationals. The Hackers group is responsible for multiple attacks against critical infrastructure, such as electricity suppliers and public transport in Europe, according to European agencies.
Service Department Attack
Pirates have proceeded by Deni of distributed service (DDOS), which consists of overloading websites and applications through specific applications so that they are no longer accessible. “Noname057 (16) has published its support for the Russian Federation since the beginning of the war of aggression against Ukraine,” said Eurojust.
According to European agencies, the group led 14 attacks in Germany, some had lasted several days and affected around 230 organizations, including arms factories, electricity suppliers and government organizations.
The attacks were also carried out everywhere in Europe during the European elections. In Sweden, the websites of authorities and banks have been attacked, while in Switzerland, several attacks were held during a video message of the Ukrainian President in the European Parliament in June 2023 and at the Peace Summit for Ukraine in June 2024.
At the end of 2024, the Hackers Group, officially dismantled on Tuesday, July 15, also claimed the cyber attacks of the sites of several French cities.
