Facilitate the independence of the elderly. This is Uber’s goal. This Thursday, July 17, the VTC platform launched its Uber Seniors service in France, a service already available in the United States for a month. It offers a simplified version of the application designed so that the elderly eat a race and move more easily.
In detail, those older than 60 can activate a simplified mode today, from the “Account” section of the application. The interface offers an expanded text, less buttons and especially less images and text to facilitate navigation. It is also possible to register places in favorites, such as the house, the station or a hospital to access it more easily.
A growing need for mobility
In case of real difficulty navigating the application, the Senior account can be linked to the family profile. To do this, it is enough for the loved one to invite an older person to join the profile of his family. The upper user then receives an SMS that contains a link to download the application, or even create your account if you have not yet done so. Family members can follow trips, manage payments or reserve a distance career.
An initiative that satisfies the growing need for the mobility of the elderly, while by 2030, almost one in six people will have 60 or more worldwide. In France, even one in three people. And, if older people are increasingly connected, mobility remains an important obstacle to independence.
This is not the first time that the platform offers dedicated profiles. Since last October, the VTC giant has been offering Uber for teenagers. For children from 13 to 17 years old, these profiles allow adolescents to order the careers safely. Parents can supervise the trips of their children live through real time updates, as well as having the driver’s name, vehicle information and the requested destination.
A month later, Uber launched a “woman.” This feature allows us to ensure that the orderly vehicle is directed by a woman to reassure women in the risk of aggression by drivers. Only inconvenience: waiting time can be a little longer.
