The vacation outings are already underway, and with them the phishing attempts that are particularly aimed at motorists who can go through tolls.
During the last days, a great SMS campaign has been trying to steal its bank data. To convince you, they use several stratagems.
A false unpaid to exert the pressure
The first is to highlight the name of the “Paso Ulys” or “Vinci Authoroutes”, specialized in Telepéage (which allows you to go to a toll without having to stop and pay). The SMS indicates “that an amount of the sum of XX euros remains unpaid”, and invites the user to “regularize (its) situation” by clicking on a link, which requires the name of the service, but that in fact is a false site.
In this link, we invite you to spread your bank data, resulting in potential money and piracy of your bank card.
Ulys specifies that it can actually be taken to contact its customers by SMS, in particular to “complete a file”, or send reminders if your bank has rejected the subscription payment. Therefore, the company invites its customers to remain cautious, in particular when verifying the link that must be the following: https://ulys.com.
For Vinci Authoroutes, the group explains that customers will be contacted by SMS only if “has encountered a payment problem at the toll station and has validated, with a teleoperator, an observation of lack of payment.” In this context, the SMS will have only a sender “Vinci” or “36035”: “We do not use a number in 06 or 07”.
The “free flow” tolls were directed
A second type of SMS is reproduced in the new “Free Flow” toll system where motorists do not stop at the barriers, but then they are invited to connect to an online platform to pay their trip.
The “free flow” tolls have been established to save the people who ask for them. But this requires connecting to a highway administrator site. Once again, several indexes should be careful: if it is a number in 06 or 07, if the link does not seem correct, etc. In general, it is better to go to the administrator’s site instead of clicking on the link present in a message.
Do not hesitate to inform these SMS either, whether checking the options of your smartphone (in iOS, as on Android), or using the 33700 platform and the sign spam platform.
