“There is a guy who has just played at home, and he tells me ‘I am the future husband of Sophie Vouzelaud'”. A Belgian man was recently trapped by a Grazer, a feeling, who pretended to be the first Dauphine of Miss France 2007, Sophie Vuzelaud.
After many discussions on social networks, the man went to the house of Miss Limousin 2006 in Haute-Vienne.
It was Fabien, the husband of Miss, who opens the door, bewildered. Turn the exchange with the scammed man and transmit the video on Tiktok. The couple tries to explain the situation to the victim, who hopes to leave with Sophie Vuzelaud.
The man is convinced that he promised her through discussions about WhatsApp. “Monsieur exchanged with ‘Sophie’, and then behind Falls in Love, gives money and gets home,” Fabien explains in the BFMTV microphone.
The Belgian claims to have given his interlocutor up to 30,000 euros. After talking about the couple, the victim finally leaves, alone. “I am the fool, it was I who passed out,” I can hear it say in Fabien’s video.
“I wasn’t me!”
According to Sophie Vuzelaud, this is not the first time that fans have been scammed by people who usurp their identity.
Very popular in social networks, Sophie Vouzelaud had caused a sensation to the public during the coronation night of Miss France 2007. Second woman with deafness to participate in the national competition, she still expressed orally to answer questions from Jean-Pierre Foucaud and had only passed a thread of the crown.
She has been participating in several television programs, in particular with the stars in 2015.
A well established technique
Thanks to social networks, sentimental scams are facilitated and many people usurped the identity of public figures such as Sophie Voucelaud.
“It is very easy to have a false profile, we have access to many teams that can be stolen as videos and photos,” explains Valentina Peri, anthropologist and author of the book The Galant Grant, sentimental scam manual.
“But you must also have a technique,” said the researcher. “There are really procedures to, little by little, build the trust of its victim and then start asking for money.”
One of the main tips that experts give is to claim a video call during a discussion with a famous or even unknown person on social networks.
