App Store in Europe: Apple should escape the fine of 50 million euros a day

For several months, Apple has been under fire to feed the European authorities, who want the American giant to open its iPhone and iPad application store, the App Store. The American giant exhibited strong fines. But the latest modifications made by their teams could allow you to avoid the anger of Europe.

Apple will have to greatly check your copy on the opening of the App Store in Europe? A priori, Reuters reveals, who has his information from the sources close to the file.

According to the news agency, the regulators of the European Union will validate the modifications made by Apple to their rules and costs linked to the App Store, their accessible application store from an iPhone and an iPad.

New rules that work

In June 2025, Apple had taken a step forward by offering treatment costs stood at 20% for purchases made through its payment system, and 13% for small businesses, and 15% for developers who send their customers out of the solutions offered by the company.

In addition, they can now put a link to subscriptions outside the App Store. Options only available in Europe.

This gesture is not trivial. It is linked to a first fine of 500 million euros inflicted by Europe in Apple in April 2025. At that time, the European regulator had left the US company 60 days to comply with the regulations of the digital market, the DMA, for the Digital Markets Law.

Apple is still critical of Europe

“All options remain on the table. We are evaluating the changes proposed by Apple,” said a European Union representative in Reuters, but the commission should approve them. Apple could have been inflicted in a daily fine of up to 5% of its worldwide turnover, or 50 million euros.

If this is confirmed, this will probably not prevent Apple from continuing to be critical of Europe and market access conditions. In fact, the company has decided to postpone or not offer certain characteristics in the old continent, in particular those linked to Apple’s intelligence, arguing that the rules were not clear enough in terms of artificial intelligence and personal data.

The function to copy your iPhone screen on your MAC is one of the victims. As part of the DMA, Apple would be obliged to offer it on Windows, while Mac should also be able to copy the screen of an Android smartphone.

In the central issue of the App Store, Apple, therefore, seems to have avoided the worst, but the situation is far from being a health trip for the company.
