Talent War in AI: Microsoft makes its market on Google Deepmind

Arès Meta that came to recruit OpenAi, is Microsoft’s turn to seek new talents dedicated to the artificial intelligence of its competitors.

Microsoft continues to accelerate artificial intelligence. With its association and its investment in OpenAI to offer co -pilot in its operating system, its search engine (Bing) and its browser (Edge), the company is also recruiting new talents from its competitors.

According to Financial Times, Microsoft has recruited about twenty people from Deepmind, the division dedicated to Google’s artificial intelligence, in the last six months.

A war of talent that has no limits

In this cast, there is Amar Subramanya, who was the Chief of Engineering of Gemini, the company’s chatbot. He will be in Microsoft Vice President of AI.

You will find several of its former colleagues, including Adam Sadovsky and Tim Frank, also from Deepmind, but also Sonal Gupta, who was one of the main engineers of the division.

For the Financial Times, this is a new example of the “talent war” currently currently in Silicon Valley. In early July, Sam Altman, founder and head of Operai, had strongly criticized the techniques of “mercenaries” by Mark Zuckerberg and Meta. He accused the giant of social networks, who has his own models of AI, of approaching his developers promising them financial bonds in more than $ 100 million.

Copilot+ in Microsoft’s strategy

The arrival of Microsoft to this futuristic battle, however, it is not surprising when you know that Mustafa Suleyman, co -founder of Deepmind, has just taken the reins within it.

Since then, he has regularly made his market with his former employees, for example, Dominic King and Christopher Kelly, now integrated into a unit specialized in health and AI.

In any case, these recruits show the very special attention of technological giants for artificial intelligence. If the sector is far from profitable, it benefits from the interest of the general public. ChatGPT can count on 600 million users per month, compared to 400 million for Gemini.

In Windows, thanks to the arrival of Copilot and its local inclination, Copilot+, Microsoft also hopes to shake the computers sector, whose sales have been in half mast for several years.
