“The more the contents are shocking, the more people look at them, the more people share them and more potentially give money.” Arthur Delaport, deputy of PS for Calvados and president of the Tiktok psychological effects commission reacted in BFMTV to the case that shakes the French transmission.
During the night of August 17 to 18, Raphaël Graven, also known by Pseudo Jeanpormanove, died after 10 days of life on the kick platform where we could see him be beaten, insult and harass. The man was the first French streamer, followed by almost 192,000 subscribers. Originally from the south of France, it was significantly carried out live extreme challenges in front of thousands of spectators.
Attention economy
Behind these macabre practices, the deputy denounces “the economy of the click.” This is a model where the principle is to attract maximum attention to social networks. “What is more shocking, which causes the greatest amount of shock, which is sometimes written is what the most reports,” explains the chosen PS.
Jeanpormanove’s life, in which you could see and humiliate itself for its coastrete, could have several thousand live spectators. A type of content that would have been difficult to transmit on the competitive transmission platform, Twitch, due to a much more protective moderation.
The elected official of Calvados, who recently interested in the case of the social network of Tiktok, says there is an audience “fascinated by the morbid”, very fond of these online practices. Therefore, deplora “a true ethical problem by these platforms that surfed on it to make a maximum cash.”
Responsibility to kick
Arthur Delaporta argues that the platform would not have discovered what is happening by Jeanpormanove, “which is the most followed account of France.” The Kick’s French X account has repeatedly using the Streamer image.
The elected official ensures that Kick has “a representation in indirect France since they have a Twitter account in France.” This presence implies “respecting French law and, in particular, criminal law” and, therefore, establishing a certain degree of moderation despite the very permissive policy of the platform.
For his part, Kick addresses his condolences to the relatives of Jeanpormanove, in a message posted in X. The French account of the platform added that “all the complexes of co-restricted who participated in this live broadcast were prohibited in waiting for the current investigation.”
It will also specify that Kick undertakes to “completely collaborate with the authorities within the framework of this process” and that the French content transmitted on the platform would be the issue of “a complete review.”
“Failures in public action”
The deputy of Calvados does not deny the responsibility of the Arcom, considered as the gendarme of the French audiovisual, for this defect. “There were failures in public action from the Arcom, which had been seized several months ago, and for LDH, and by Mediapart, it was not sufficiently reactive,” he recalls.
Arthur Delaport insists on the few means assigned to the ARCH to regulate this type of content. “They have 23 people for wider surveillance and sanctions in digital networks, so it is obviously insufficient compared to the magnitude of the mission that is yours,” he explains to BFMTV.
According to BFMTV information, the autopsy will be practiced tomorrow morning. The Nice Prosecutor’s office also announces that he has carried out several hearings of people present at the time of death, without this stage, no guidance has been granted on the causes of death.
