Europe once again pushed for Sony’s economic elections. Six months after the significant increase in prices in its different PlayStation 5 models, Sony is preparing to launch a new version of the PS5 Slim, a smaller and unique digital edition (without a record reader), its console, says Dealabs.
The design of this “new” model does not change, and for a good reason: it is the storage that will be reviewed down. From 1sto currently, the model in question will fall to only 825 GB. All, without any change in the price of the console, which remains at 499.99 euros.
The “classic” version of PlayStation 5 with Disk Player, however, will retain its 1 storage, unless the last minute surprise.
A desire to reduce costs?
According to Dealabs’s information, this change in storage space is explained by the need to optimize the production costs of its console, while customs taxes decided by Donald Trump since this summer have shaken the world economy.
The fact is that it is once again that Europe will provide for the first: the thin model of 825 GB PS5 will not be launched in the United States at this stage. However, the US market suffered an increase in the summer of 2025, the PlayStation 5 range had won $ 50, as Europe last spring.
Contacted by Tech & Co, Sony has not yet answered at this stage. This “new” PS5 Slim is expected for September 13 in European positions.
