Doesn’t the guilt be lucky? Not precisely. On September 18, 2025, Meta announced its many new features in the connected glasses sector. Improved Ray-Ban Meta version, a new model with a screen, used by artificial intelligence and an electromyographic bracelet … Mark Zuckerberg, the business owner, had something to impress.
But on stage, everything did not come out as planned. Certain real time manifestations have been victims of the main technical problems, especially when a sequence came with a chef asking for help in the AI of his glasses without success, or when Mark Zuckerberg tried to win a call, to vain.
A bitter failure, which quickly mocked social networks, but that goal had not been able to anticipate.
MEotten goal of technical problems
Andrew Bosworth, director of Meta technology, explained on his Instagram account that if everything had gone well during the trials, once it is “real” directly that everything has derailed. What happened? “When the cook said” Hello goal, the early live, “actually activated the live of all the goals of the finish line. And there were many people in the building,” said the technical director. Obviously, except to plan the worst, it was impossible to consider this concern, which could not happen during the many trials that always take place upstream.
Normally, however, this would not have caused a problem. The company’s servers would have absorbed the load. Perhaps Wi-Fi, first indicated, would have been the cause of a slowdown … the second element that caused the blockade is that Meta had also decided to transport the “live” traffic to a single server to isolate it from a possible interference. But the influx of connection of all the glasses present in the showgloor created an effect similar to a denial of service (ddos): “We were ‘ourselves’ ourselves,” explains Andrew Bosworth.
However, I wanted to assure those interested in these new models of glasses, ensuring that “these products work”: “I know they have what is needed, so it is more a problem with the demonstration than with the product.”
A funny response that shows how the “live” demonstrations can be risky. During the presentation of the iPhone 4 by Steve Jobs, Wifi’s problems had fogged the demonstration, pushing the Apple founder asked the audience to disconnect from the company’s wireless network.
To avoid these problems, many presentations are now on video.
But in order, it was necessary to do everything live, in particular to show that the glasses presented have the potential to replace a smartphone. In any case, it is the desire of Mark Zuckerberg, who puts a lot in these products.
