Less than three weeks after the GPS signal struggle of the plane that transported the president of the European Commission in Bulgaria, Ursula von der Leyen, Minister of Spanish Defense, Margarita Robles, was also a victim of the same attack on Wednesday, September 24, confirmed a spokesman for the Ministry.
This is what the European news agency announces, which explains that the attack was blocked by the aircraft defense system, which passes through military satellites to make its flights.
A flight near Russia
When the shock occurred, the minister was above the Baltic Sea, near the Russian city of Kaliningradra. Margarita Robles went to a Lithuanian base where Spanish soldiers are parked as part of the Coordinated actions with NATO.
Questioned by Europa Press, a captain, however, minimized the incident, explaining that it was frequent that a GPS struggle was made in civil or military planes that flew over conflict areas, mainly close to the border with Russia.
During a similar incident with Ursula von der Leyen, the Bulgarian authorities had reported serious doubts against Russia. Even if the plane had landed without difficulty in Bulgaria, where the president of the European Commission made a trip, the GPS signal was lost shortly before arriving at Plovdiv airport.
However, this new fight, this time against a Spanish minister, could improve the tension of a notch. He intervenes a few days after an overview of the Copenhagen airport, Denmark and Oslo in Norway, unidentified drones, possibly of Russian origin. However, Russia denied any participation in what caused some confusion and closing for a few hours of the two affected areas.
