“I believe the applications I need”: meeting with Britta Yaro, developer of the dream application of Lena situations

Developer, Britta Yaro creates mobile applications, especially for women. Tech & Co went to know him.

It is at the origin of the dream application of situations of Lena. She is Britta Yaro, a 24 -year -old mobile developer. “I create mobile applications that we use every day on your phone. Behind a mobile application, there is a code. My work is to write this code,” Britta explains. Tech & Co went to know this young woman, many of which are available in App Store, Apple and Play Store, from Google.

When “the great minds are”

In June, Britta realized one of the dreams of the situations of influencer Lena, leaving Tana Mandón. This application is inspired by online game My bimbowhich makes it possible to develop a fashion character, decorating his accommodation, finding a boyfriend or helping him win the work of his dreams. But Tana Mandon goes further by helping users to be more productive, than influencer was looking.

“He had already begun to develop the application. It was an idea he had had for a while, but he had never started his development,” said Britta, who is a fan of Lena’s situations. One day, when he worked on his request, at the same time he looked at one of his lives.

The Tana Mandon helps women to be more productive thanks to a list of tasks they create. For each task, they win “Tana Dollars” that they can wear to customize their “Tana doll” with original clothes and make it evolve in the game. A good way to make daily tasks less unpleasant. During its first three months of existence, the application had some success, with around 15,000 downloads, according to Britta Yaro.

She did not choose this name at random. Its objective was to give another meaning to the word “Tana”, which is degrading for women. “Dandanty Tana (Authoritarian Tana, in French), is a woman who works to buy her clothes, her small bags and finally, the fun is that her work is her work in real life because it is her list of pending tasks. Suddenly, it was very good hope that people take this word and that it is not a shame to say Tana, and that ties it to boss,” explains the young woman.

An application born of a passion

But the developer was not in his first success. Before this game, he created Perfect Spot, which was launched in May 2021, when the confinement ended. With almost 60,000 downloads and also used by Lena situations, it suggests the perfect place to eat (restaurant, bar) depending on user expectations and personality. For this, you must answer some questions, since “are you quite intraverted or outgoing?” Or “Do you feel comfortable with noise, when there are people?”

Suggested restaurants appear in a database created by Britta Yaro, and in which he obviously went to eat. “I put all the restaurants that I tried in Paris. I am a great admirer of the restaurants. Suddenly, to share my good addresses, I made my own database (…) Sometimes they also offered me associations, so when I was one and the restaurant was great, I added it to the database,” specified the developer.

He also created other applications, which he later sold. “Often, when I create applications, I sell them just after. I make my first figures and then I can’t find the will to keep them,” Brita said.

Work

Behind each of his projects, hides a personal desire. “They are my own problems of life” that inspires me. “In fact, it is purely selfish. I believe the applications I need. For example, it was this need to find great restaurants where to eat and also share my good addresses (…) I tell myself ‘I have this type of problem, other people will have the same problem'”, says the young woman.

During the last two years, he has been working on her and her account of her account. At interest in university’s computer science, thanks to its technology teacher, a sector of engineering sciences in high school, before doing a computer school, followed. It was during this period that he began working on behalf of other people, but he realized that he did not like it.

The one who was still a student at that time left his job, studied “in a fairly large business” to enter the autonomous. But there too, he worked for businessmen or small new companies. Unsatisfied, he ended up making the big leap, especially because he had already launched his first request during his studies. An application that was born in a particular context. Not having found an internship to validate his year, he told herself: “Come on, I will put myself in internship under my own business.” It was at this point that he first realized how great it was to create his own application.

Thanks to its projects, it now wins between 1,500 and 3,000 euros net per month.

Encourage women to start

Britta also has another source of income: it offers training to young women, who are numerous in their community, to encourage them to work in mobile development. “In my training, 80% are girls and it’s too great. There are young girls, mothers. There is everything. And you see that women really have this’ I want to help people, I want to create applications to help people,” he emphasizes the developer.

Through their training and videos on social networks, it wants to help girls who doubt embarking on this field, especially because it is a sector that still has few women.

Women are necessary in this environment because, as Britta recalls, many tools and algorithms have been designed by men for men. “It is very important that there is diversity for these algorithms to be more inclusive.” It is women who are more likely to know what they need. Many of the developer applications are designed for them.

This is the case of his latest creation, Moon. It offers dishes and recipes depending on the user’s menstrual cycle. A woman in the ovulation phase will see, for example, suggestions of dishes rich in magnesium or antioxidant foods, which can help her have less painful rules. But if the path is still long to achieve more equality and inclusion, Britta Yaro intends to continue this fight, an application at a time …
