Meta wants its employees to adopt AI to be up to 5 times more productive…

Meta isn’t just pushing its AI tools to the general public and businesses. The social media giant also wants its own employees to use them.

“Simple but daring.” In a message sent internally and revealed by 404 Media, it seems that Meta wants to impose its artificial intelligence tools on its employees with the aim of making them more productive.

“Our goal is simple but bold: make AI a habit, not a novelty. That means prioritizing training and adoption for everyone, so using AI becomes second nature, just like other tools we rely on,” writes Vishal Shah, vice president of Metaverse at Meta.

After the failure of the Metaverse, a virtual world that claimed to be “more important than the smartphone,” and that lost more money than it generated, Mark Zuckerberg changed his mind, to the point of thinking only about artificial intelligence.

5 times more productivity

Vishal Shah goes even further and claims that AI could enable employees to be 5 times more productive: “These are not small incremental improvements but a fundamental overhaul in the way we work, develop and innovate.” He adds that 80% of Metaverse branch employees will have to integrate AI into their daily routine “before the end of the year.”

A “priority” confirmed by the company in a statement sent to Gizmodo, in response to this internal email communicated to the press: “We are focused on using AI to help employees in their daily work.”

A statement that is in line with what Mark Zuckerberg told investors, ensuring that by early 2027, AI agents could be able to write much of the code for the sites operated by Meta.

For supporters of artificial intelligence, this technology should allow companies and their employees to eliminate redundancy to focus on what is most important. By letting AI do the thankless work, the idea would be to increase the skills of people who would see their work evolve significantly.

Therefore, Meta is just a new example of companies wanting to move to excessive AI. If in the United States the practice has become common, in Europe, and particularly in France, it is still in its infancy. According to INSEE, only 10% of companies will use AI in their development in 2024. If the trend is upward, it is still well below some of our European neighbors such as Germany, which stands at almost 28%.
