“121 password attacks every second.” The observation of Corine De Bilbao, president of Microsoft France, is final. Cybersecurity is a sector under pressure: while some 15,000 people are missing to meet French needs, threats are increasingly present.
19 months of training
For this reason, Microsoft has committed to training 10,000 people in France by 2025. To do this, the IT giant has chosen an unusual path. “We have a conviction, which is that we should not only train people from Bac+5 and Bac+7, because there are none”, explains Corine De Bilbao.
Therefore, Microsoft has opened a school in partnership with Simplon, a professional training gamer. On December 1, the first class of the Cyber Microsoft by Simplon school welcomed 17 students, former job seekers. For three months, they will undergo intensive training on the Microsoft campus. This will be followed by a 16-month work-study program within partner companies, including Advens. The students will thus obtain a title of administrator of secure infrastructures, recognized by the State.
The training is currently based at Microsoft’s French headquarters, in Issy-les-Moulineaux, near Paris. But the company already has plans to recreate the experience in Lyon and Rennes. With the aim of welcoming a hundred students this year.
