It’s a tradition for Google. Every year at the beginning of December, the company reveals the 2022 list of trends, that is, the most popular searches in the world of the past year.
And 2022 will obviously continue to be marked by the war in Ukraine. In the “news” category, the term “Ukraine” appears first, ahead of “Queen Elizabeth’s death” or “monkey pox.”
1 – Ukraine
2 – Death of Queen Elizabeth
3 – Election results
4 – Powerball Numbers
5 – Monkeypox
But the most searched word in the world is… “Wordle”, from the name of the Motus-like gaming phenomenon that appeared earlier this year and is still wildly popular.
Second is the “India vs England” quest, which peaked in July when the two countries met in cricket. “Ukraine” and “Queen Elizabeth” complete the ranking, while Ind vs SA again refers to cricket.
1 – Word
2 – India v England
3 – Ukraine
4 – Queen Elizabeth
5 – Ind vs SA
On the artist side, it’s Johnny Depp who comes in first with the huge exposure of his lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend Amber Heard, who also comes in third. Between the two, another media scandal: Will Smith, guilty of slapping actor Chris Rock at the Oscars. The latter was the 4th search in the category, while Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, rounds out this top 5.
1-Johnny Depp
2 – Will Smith
3- amber heard
4 – Chris Rock
5 – Jada Pinkett Smith
The category “personality” is very similar to the ranking of artists except that the war in Ukraine pushes Vladimir Putin to fourth place.

4 – Vladimir Putin
5 – Chris Rock
In athletes, Novak Djokovic, expelled from Australia in January for not being vaccinated, is at the top of the trends ahead of his rival Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.

2-Rafael Nadal
3-Serena Williams

Finally, in the “death” category, it is, of course, Queen Elizabeth who ranks first in the search, ahead of American actress Betty White and actress Anne Heche, who both passed away suddenly last August.

2 – Betty White
3 – Ana Heche
