Warning to personalities, organizations or even certified journalists on Twitter: if you want to keep your blue badge, you will also have to put your hand in your pocket. In a few months, the social network will withdraw the old certifications.
To keep the famous and now maligned blue tick, only one solution: Twitter Blue. The $8 a month subscription, presented again by Elon Musk a few hours ago and which is still being talked about, will therefore be an obligatory step for users.
“A corrupt and incomprehensible attribution”
This is a new message that has caught the attention of some netizens. Now, when you click the blue tick on personality accounts, Twitter says that “account has been verified for a while and may not be known anymore.” A way of indicating that the identity of the person(s) behind the account has not necessarily been verified.
Elon Musk, like all news, expressed himself on his social network indicating that the old blue badges would be withdrawn in a few months. The head of Twitter justified this choice by explaining that the way in which these badges were obtained was “corrupt and incomprehensible”.
This episode just adds to a long series of changes to badges and other certifications on the social network. A few hours ago, gold-colored badges appeared on users’ timelines. These badges are awarded to the media and companies. Note that the media also have the mention “Official”.
With this umpteenth novelty, however, a question arises: who will be willing to pay $8 a month (or even more with the App Store) for Twitter Blue? And above all: Will Elon Musk pay for his own service?
Big question…
