‘Users will start leaving the platform next year’: Analyst firm sees Twitter’s future bleak

According to a report, within two years, Twitter will lose 32.7 million users and experience zero revenue growth.

While Elon Musk has made multiple changes to Twitter since his arrival (paid badges, increase in hateful content, etc.), users will gradually flee the platform and its growth will be zero. This is predicted by the US analyst firm Insider Intelligence, consulted by Reuters.

Thus, the number of active users per month should decrease by 9% by 2024, from the current 368.4 million to 335.7 million. The most significant drop will be among US users, estimates the analyst firm, whose number will drop to 50.5 million by 2024, the lowest level since 2014. The slowdown will be especially pronounced among users under 25 and over 45 years.

zero growth

Another difficulty for Twitter in the next two years: zero growth in billing. Ad revenue has already started to decline despite being one of the main sources of revenue for the platform. Inside Intelligence expects ad revenue to grow just 4.9% this year. While growth of 21.6% was expected for 2023 and 16% in 2024, the next two years will be essentially flat.

Lost revenue and layoffs have made it difficult to launch new tools on the platform. And this has the consequence of reducing the user participation rate.
