FuboTV, a paid streaming platform that broadcasts sporting events live, says it was the victim of a cyberattack on December 14 during the match between France and Morocco. Many accounts were thus inaccessible for several hours.
While some viewers relied on their FuboTV subscription to watch the World Cup semi-final, they had to turn to other channels because they couldn’t tune in. In a press release FuboTV details that the cyberattack is of criminal origin. “As soon as we detect the attack, we immediately take action to contain the incident and work to restore service to all of our users as quickly as possible,” FuboTV said.
open investigation
An investigation was opened and the platform partnered with Mandiant, a specialized company to find the source of the attack. “Our primary focus at this time is to ensure that the incident is fully contained and that there is no threat of further disruption to our customers,” the statement read. An update would be made as soon as possible. At this time, there is no indication that customer data has been hacked.
The American platform FuboTV bought the French Molotov in November 2021 for 190 million dollars and has 347,000 subscribers in France and Spain. FuboTV broadcasts all the major global and American sporting events, as well as live TV channels.
