Tinder will let you be more transparent about your intentions

Tinder is rolling out a new feature that allows users to clearly mark what they’re looking for on the dating app, from a friend to a short- or long-term partner.

The feature has been around for a long time on other dating apps like Bumble and Hinge. Tinder it ended up resigning itself and now it offers its users the possibility to clearly show what they are looking for in the application.

Six proposals are possible: a serious, long-term relationship, but open to short relationships; short term, but open to a long relationship; Nothing serious; make friends; I don’t know.

In a recent test conducted by the app, more than half of Tinder users added what they were looking for in the overview area of their profile. “The feature was developed to adapt to user habits,” says Tinder. in a press release. As revealed by the company in its 2022 report73% of users between the ages of 18 and 25 want to find people who are clear about what they want.

This new feature “gives members more control over their interactions and allows them to meet with more intention, without losing a connection they wouldn’t have made elsewhere,” Tinder specifies.

Feature now available

To reveal the precision of the intent, just enter the profile editing parameters. It is possible to choose only one at a time, but the user can change as many times as they want. Tinder sends the user a message every week to check if the chosen intent still matches what they are looking for.

A priori, entering the parameter will not change the profiles offered, but the user will be able to see what other people are looking for.
