Majority votes for Musk to leave Twitter, but CEO changes the rules so only paid subscribers can vote

The CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk, launched a survey in which he asked users of the social network if they wanted him to continue leading the company and even said that he would leave office if that was the will of the majority. More than ten million people voted in favor of his resignation, but now Musk has broken the silence to say that, in the next polls related to Twitter, only users who pay certified accounts will be able to vote.

This change in the rules was suggested by a user, to whom Elon Musk replied: “Good point. Twitter will make that change.”

The paid subscription on this social network is called Twitter Blue and it allows anyone to buy the blue symbol to verify their account. Since Musk is the majority owner of the private company, no one can force him out, but the controversial decisions he has made have already caused some of his closest supporters to distance themselves.

According to investment adviser Gary Black, Musk is also under pressure from Tesla’s board of directors to step down as Twitter’s lead and focus again on the electric vehicle maker, whose shares have fallen more than 33% since the acquisition. from the social network.

“The numbers are hard to ignore,” Black wrote on Twitter.

On Sunday there was another change: the platform announced that Twitter users will no longer be able to post links to competing social networks, such as Facebook or Instagram.

Last week, Musk suspended the accounts of several American journalists, including professionals from CNN and The New York Times and The Washington Post, sparking a wave of criticism and provoking reactions from the European Union and the UN. Since then, the accounts have been restored.
