Internet users have not warned about a style problem in Mozilla’s browser for a long time. The bug was listed on April 12, 2005. But it would not be until February 2023 that it would disappear forever, with the deployment of version 110 of the software.
Incorrect reading of a CSS pseudo-element
After 18 years, file 290125 was finally fixed and closed on December 20, 2022. The error concerned the format of the first letter of a paragraph, NextInpact details. Specifically, it is a misreading of the ::first-letter CSS pseudo-element, which changes the appearance of the first letter of a block of text.
The browser’s rendering engine, Gecko, did not previously take into account the line-height modification associated with this letter. According to Jonathan Kew, a Mozilla developer, the solution is in a patch that will allow you to choose between classic, new, or automatic Firefox behavior.
