It looks like a stand with rounded corners on which a book is placed. The tablet recognizes it and can read it in French or English (even if the book is in the other language). The child will then be able to have fun touching the images that will come to life in a sound way to tell the scene, emit sounds or music. The idea is, in effect, to immerse the young reader (from 2 to 6 years old) in reading and to make him want to continue later.
A tablet without a screen, only dedicated to reading
Bugali has partnered with several renowned children’s publishers (Fleurus, Gallimard, Milan, Seuil Jeunesse, Nathan, L’école des loisirs, etc.) to design books dedicated to the concept. About 25 books should be available at the planned release next September. The books will be sold each for 14.50 euros. One hundred euros will be needed to purchase a complete pack that includes the tablet and two books. Others will come over time to enrich the library that includes six universes: knowledge, arts, emotions, adventure, nature, and games.
The tablet does not include a screen and only needs Wi-Fi for a few seconds to load updates. It is used without any kind of connection. It is possible to connect headphones to be able to listen to the book and interact without noise. There’s also an app for parents, but it’s mostly used to push updates, order books, or let parents suggest jobs to integrate.
