The government must announce its hunting measures on Monday, January 9. To reassure walkers without prohibiting the practice on Sundays, the executive would have another solution, reports le figaro: an application for smartphones. The idea is to invite hunters to denounce themselves, so that those who wish to walk choose a safer route.
As the newspaper reports, this solution was put forward by various hunting lobbyists, beginning with Thierry Coste, political adviser to the National Federation of Hunters. At the moment, however, nothing indicates that notification is mandatory.
Using the Meerkat app
The same source, however, does not mention the creation of a specific application. In fact, the government would like to add new features to the Meerkat app, which has been offered since 2014 by the Ministry of Sports. It is intended for lovers of outdoor activities such as canyoning, horse riding or hiking.
Available on Android and iOS, Suricate allows everyone to report sources of contamination, a conflict of use in an area, incorrect signage or finally faulty equipment.
A total of 700 referents are in charge of solving these problems. The latter are “from town halls, sports federations, state services and managers of natural spaces”, according to the Ministry of Sports.
In the coming months, the application could accommodate new functions dedicated to hunting, allowing hunters to be geolocated and limiting the risk of accidents. Provided, of course, you have a smartphone.
