The connected healthcare sector has taken a prominent place since the Covid-19 pandemic. Connected watch, smart stethoscope or even electric toothbrushes: many products allow consumers to be actors in the control of their well-being. This excitement is also reflected in CES 2023, an event that gives pride of place to this sector and during which many exhibitors presented innovative solutions in this area.
• U-Scan connected toilet
The French company Withings aims to revolutionize toilets with U-Scan, a device that proposes to analyze and provide the composition of its user’s urine on a daily basis directly at home. The principle is simple: placed in the toilet bowl, the device consists of a reader, which collects the urine, and a cartridge system that analyzes it. Each one allows one hundred tests to be carried out
The first cartridge, dedicated to food analysis, will determine the consequences of nutritional and water intake on metabolism. Depending on the results obtained, the Withings application will give advice, such as recipes or activities, to achieve the goals set by the user.
The second cartridge is intended for the analysis of menstrual cycles and will allow users to know where they are within their cycle based on hormonal detection. All while providing tips for better hydration and nutrition.
• Aevice MD Smart Stethoscope
AeviceMD, an artificial intelligence-powered wearable stethoscope, can detect abnormal wheezing in chronic conditions like asthma. A sensor continuously analyzes and records measurements (respiratory rate, heart rate, etc.) via an app.
The latter offers an overview of the data collected and offers the possibility of receiving alerts when early signs of deteriorating health are detected. Ultimately, clinicians should use AeviceMD to assess the cardiopulmonary health of their patients, anytime, anywhere, by sharing data to make rapid clinical decisions.
• Y-Brush electric toothbrush
In addition to its atypical design, the Y-Brush electric toothbrush, developed by the Lyon startup of the same name, has another peculiarity: its manufacturer promises that you can brush your teeth effectively in just… 10 seconds.
The object consists of a handle capable of generating sonic vibrations and a highly flexible brush head, lined with nylon filaments, which adapts to any jaw shape. A feature that allows you to brush all of your teeth at the same time.
• CarePredict Tempo Connected Cuff
CarePredict is a solution that allows the level of activity of the elderly to be analyzed in real time in order to monitor the evolution of their behavior and prevent the deterioration of their state of health.
This is Tempo, a connected bracelet capable of detecting your daily activities and collecting your vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar, weight or even body temperature. Data that can then be received and shared with caregivers.
The bracelet is also capable of detecting the actions of daily life such as eating, drinking, bathing or even washing and locating in which rooms these activities take place. A function that allows you to locate the owner of the bracelet.
• Medical diagnosis by Expiry selfie
The Metz-based start-up I-Virtual has developed Caducy, a technology called “photoplethysmography” that allows, using a simple 30-second selfie video, to measure vital parameters remotely.
The operation is very simple: thanks to this short sequence, Caducy can calculate six vital parameters, including heart rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure. The objective of this tool is to improve prevention and diagnosis and guarantee better home monitoring of patients with chronic diseases.
