On January 8, Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire launched a major public consultation to frame influencer practices and influencer marketing regulation. According to Sunday newspaperthe deputy of the majority Stéphane Vojetta will present an inter-party bill on this issue and thus extends a hand to the PS, deputy author of another text already deposited.
Very specifically, the bill by Stéphane Vojetta (5th district of French residents abroad) voluntarily sweeps all aspects of the framework of influencers’ practices: from the statute of content creators to the legal obligations of contract or representation in France through the responsibility of platforms
With this bill, the deputy hopes to present a joint text with the elected PS Arthur Delaporte (2nd district of Calvados), who already presented a text to that effect on December 27. More focused on the angle of public health and the protection of minors, he wants, for example, to define a status for content creators or prohibit the promotion of acts of cosmetic surgery and financial investments.
For a review in March
The elected Socialist says he is open to discussion and “sensitive to the desire to discuss”, confesses to the JDD. The exchanges between the two deputies are already underway. A decision must be made in the next few days, after consultation with the members of the PS group. For his part, Stéphane Vojetta points to an examination of the text in the National Assembly in March. His bill is also intended to serve as a “legislative vehicle” for Bercy in his words.
The great public consultation of the Ministry of Economy, which will run until January 31, aims to create a code of good conduct for influential people. France has 150,000 influential people, so the ministry wants to protect consumers from misleading practices. The consultation provides the opportunity for all French people who wish to express themselves on 11 measures divided into four themes: the rights and obligations of influential people, intellectual property, consumer protection and governance of the sector. Several work tables are also underway with the different actors in the sector.
Once these consultations are complete, the government can add proposals to the text of the majority MP. Nupes also presented two other texts.
