The cut and complete. In an open letter to Margrethe Vestager, the European Competition Commissioner, several major European technology groups, including Deezer and Spotify, violently attack Apple for its “anti-competitive and unfair” practices.
“These restrictions hinder our development and harm European consumers”, continue the signatories, denouncing the operation of the App Store and “its excessive commissions for application developers”.

The complaints against Apple are not new. At the center of the complaint, Apple’s compensation system which imposes a significant commission (from 15 to 30%) on the price of the applications present in its store, but also on internal transactions such as subscriptions. Inevitably, Apple is not constrained by any taxes for its competing Apple Music platform.
For several years, Spotify has engaged in a feud with Apple while trying to win its case with Brussels. In particular, a complaint was filed in 2019 and clearly time is running out for actors from the old continent.
Spotify or Deezer are not the only ones who complain about the operation of Apple. Video game publisher Epic Games is also in open conflict with Tim Cook’s group, while Elon Musk had threatened to stop showing Twitter on the App Store. He had finally resigned himself to raising his subscription prices for App Store users.
