Pension reform: the mobilization is also taking place on Twitch

A group of streamers launches its Twitch channel, baptized as PiquetDeStream, during several days of directing and supporting the protesters mobilized against the pension reform.

The mobilization takes place on the street, but also on the Internet, including Twitch. A group of streamers has chosen to take over the platform and launch a channel to support the protesters: PiquetDeStream. The first live aired on January 18, and the live streams will air for three days, almost continuously.

The project was born from the idea of various streamers including Klitch Norris, Yukaino or Happy Sociologist.

In its press release, PiquetDeStream announces several goals: “to provide popular education on pension reform and social movements, to encourage as many people as possible to take part in the strike, and to bring the strike to life online.”

The channel also aims to raise funds to “support the strikers”. Viewers have the opportunity to make a donation that will go to the strike fund run by the CGT infocom and Sud Poste 92 unions.

The first direct brought together some 290 spectators around 10 p.m. In the premiere program, an interview with the general secretary of CGT Infocom and a reminder of the history of pensions. The channel will also offer political analysis, strike-oriented press reviews, not to mention gaming.

This is not the first project of its kind. Four years ago, an initiative was launched by a group of streamers during the strike on December 5, 2019, already against the pension reform. In total, six weeks of streaming and 152,000 euros raised.
