A cry from the heart that has evidently found admirers. An American father’s post to the family message group went viral after her daughter shared it on Twitter on January 16. A week later, she had almost 15 million visits, emphasizes FranceInfo.
“I can’t take this pressure of always having to laugh or like or appreciate everyone’s random thoughts, photos and pleasures,” Thomas D’Orazio, 51, wrote. “For the next few messages: I love them, they make me laugh, and I like them unless it’s not right, then I don’t like them. In perpetuity.”
Obviously, the weariness of this father has resonated with many families, tired of these groups that are multiplying, especially on WhatsApp. “My dad called me and told me ironically that he had a million messages to answer right now,” his daughter commented two days after the tweet.
For the ABC channel, Allison D’Orazio recounts the day of the “drama” or rather the fall too much of her father. Along with her sister, she sent “a bunch of links to articles we thought were funny.”
groups from hell
Thomas D’Orazio did not stray so far from the group and did not offend his family in the story, but the virality of this bloody blow is not less. WhatsApp groups, very popular since the pandemic, sometimes become very heavy to maintain, especially as they multiply. Last November, BFMTV told how arguments between neighbors could quickly turn into hell. Especially since everyone often feels compelled to answer them.
“These are the rules of social life,” Laurence Allard, co-author of Écologies du smartphone, tells BFMTV. “Rituals of civility carry over into digital life, so the norm is to respond, as if someone were waving at you.”
Until a few months ago, leaving a WhatsApp group was marked in black and white in everyone’s messages. This is no longer the case, as it is now possible to leave a group chat without alerting the members.
