On the occasion of Safe Internet Day, organized by Google on February 6, the search engine announced the creation of a new tool to blur pornographic, violent or bloody images.
This new setting, enabled by default and for all users, will automatically blur violent or sexual images that appear in search results. However, Google indicates that the user can deactivate it if they wish, as long as they are registered and are over 18 years of age. At the moment, a precise release date has not been communicated, but the function should be implemented in the coming months, explains the American site The Verge.
The SafeSearch feature, available in Google’s settings, already has the ability to filter out content that is not suitable for users under 18 years of age. When the blur feature starts, it will be accessible in the same settings menu as SafeSearch.
Monitor uses by minors
Please note that SafeSearch only works for Google search results and not for websites. To activate SafeSearch, simply sign in to your Google account and open this tab.
