ChatGPT comes to Snapchat to become your new friend (paid)

The famous chabot will be integrated into the paid version of the application. So that? Obviously none, except chat with an AI.

A blank screen and only a writing bar to start the discussion. Snapchat did not seek to explain, demonstrate, or warn against ChatGPT’s surprise arrival to the app on February 27.

As The Verge explains, this version of the OpenAI chatbot turns out to be lighter than the original version or the one implemented in Microsoft’s Bing engine. The idea is not to do a search or query but to discuss with an AI. Clearly, Snapchat offers you a new virtual friend.

No research, no dissertations

However, the chatbot, available only for the paid version of Snap, will adapt to the conditions of use of the social network, avoiding reprehensible comments or overly controversial topics such as politics.

Called My AI, the avatar will also not be able to write essays or solve student math problems: the idea is to turn it into a simple conversational agent.

This is what had attracted Bing users. If he indulged in sometimes disturbing ramblings, this ChatGPT had known how to adapt to the tone of the users. Then, Microsoft had completely anesthetized their chatbot, which made users angry.

Launched last June, Snapchat+, the social network’s paid subscription service, got off to a flying start and now has 2.5 million subscriptions. In total, Snapchat has 750 million users, far fewer than its competitors.
