A kind of The voice 100% audio version. It is what Audible launches on its platform on June 1 with the Breakthrough podcast. Over the course of nine episodes, five artists will be joined and judged by singers Sara Bareilles and Kelly Rowland. The goal is mainly to focus only on voice and get out of TV entertainment.
In this competition, five artists will have to complete challenges such as covers of well-known songs, explore different musical genres or even write original songs. Various prizes will be awarded at the end of each challenge: vocal coaching sessions, studio recordings, and the chance to win musical gear. At the end of the competition, a winner will be chosen.
The success of the original programs
Who says audio format, says they do not know the physical appearance of the participants. Through this format, Audible wants listeners to discover unknown artists exclusively through their music and voice.
Audible already has popular music shows, and stars have realized this is a market that works well: The Words + Music podcast, an Audible original show, looks at the careers of artists like Mariah Carey, John Legend, Sheryl Crow or Sting. Far from offering just audiobooks, more than 760,000 shows are available on Audible.
