Day. This is the time it took for “redditors” (users of the Reddit forum) to help youtuber Ludwig Ahgren find the mini-truck that was stolen from him on Tuesday, reports the specialized video game blog Kotaku. As California has been experiencing one of its worst winter storms in decades, the videographer has decided to protect his 1997 Subaru Sambar, purchased for $7,000, in a Los Angeles warehouse.
But on February 28 there was a bad surprise: the warehouse suffered a power outage that turned off the security system and someone took the opportunity to steal the vehicle, which the youtuber described as “the car of her dreams.” Ludwig then posts a message on social media to alert subscribers to him. Eventually, the car will be found in Los Angeles on March 1, thanks to a search by its fans.
A man demanded $10,000
According to Kotaku, a man was driving the vehicle when gamer Anthony “Slime” Bruno, who helped Ludwig find his vehicle, opened the door of the Subaru Sambar on the streets of Los Angeles. He seemed surprised and claimed not to be responsible for the robbery. According to him, another man would have used the minivan to pay a debt he owed.
The man behind the wheel demanded $10,000 to return the car, before fleeing after Ludwig and his friends called the police. The vehicle was finally found a second time in front of a massage institute, thanks to a Reddit user. When the police arrived at the scene, the man, who was in the massage parlor and was about to leave the premises according to Ludwig, had fled.
The American YouTuber, a former most followed streamer on Twitch where he achieved a record live of 31 days in 2021, thanked his followers on Reddit and Twitter for helping him find the car. He even promised to send free products to a surfer for waiting a moment near the vehicle.
