“Unreadable”: TikTok is experiencing a global outage

The app is currently having trouble playing videos. The problem affects several countries, including France.

TikTok is experiencing a global outage this Thursday morning, especially in France where some videos are no longer working. The message “Unable to play the video” appears at the top of the screen.

On the Downdetector site, which lists website failures, many users report connection problems on the social network. This is also the case in several countries, such as the United Kingdom or Poland.

On Twitter, many netizens have noticed the same problem in their app.

As Tech&Co has discovered, the transmission appears to be working erratically, with returns to normal, followed by new errors. Contacted, Tiktok had yet to comment.

The Chinese social network is currently at the heart of the cyclone: accused of spying on behalf of the Chinese state, the app could be banned in the United States. In France, a senate commission of inquiry is also looking into its role in France.
