More than a platform, a true geopolitical tool. On March 8, as part of a Senate committee, FBI Director Christopher Wray estimated that the threat posed by TikTok could escape intelligence services.
“We are not sure we would see the outward signs of such manipulation if it were to take place,” Christopher Ray continued during his hearing. “It is a tool that is under the control of the Chinese government and, to me, it is a matter of national security.”
I clearly expressed the concern quantum of the use of TikTok by China, but it will not control the women of millions of Americans for permettre une surveillance accrue, well that this suspicion of the part of the States-Unis ne soit pas new. The platform would also seek to divide Americans through the manipulation of information. For Senator Marco Rubio, who questioned the FBI director, TikTok wants to “poison the minds of millions of people.”
TikTok seeks commitment
For its part, TikTok denies the accusations and asked the Biden administration to close a deal that allows the platform to continue operating in the United States in exchange for greater transparency. TikTok boss Shou Zi Chew will be heard by the US Congress at the end of March.
On March 7, the Biden administration gave its support to the bill called the “Restriction Act” that allows for the banning of apps like TikTok and gives more power to the Minister of Commerce to ban this app.
