“Childishness”, “childish bravado”, “schoolyard bully level”… Reporters Without Borders’ words regarding Elon Musk are clearly not kind. In a press release published on its site, the NGO for the defense of press freedom resumed the new functionality launched by Elon Musk for the Twitter press service.
Since last March 19, as he announced to great fanfare on his Twitter account, Elon Musk has enabled an automatic response for all the media and journalists who try to contact the social network. A simple “poop emoji” sent in a few seconds does not delight Reporters Without Borders.
It is already a great responsibility with the press.
This new excess is, according to RSF, “in line with the contempt shown by Elon Musk for journalism.” The organization thus refers to the recent banishment of journalist accounts on Twitter, who followed the news of the billionaire.
Ironically, RSF tried to join Twitter to discuss this situation with one of the officials or with Elon Musk himself. But like many journalists, including those at Tech&Co, the only response was the same brown emoji.
