“I have no excuses”: Squeezie makes his mea culpa on the request of influencers

In a long video on TikTok, the youtuber Squeezie returned to the controversy generated by an “extremely poorly written” forum before a law on the regulation of influential media.

“Yeah, you’re right, as number one, I should never have been associated with a cheat without reading it.” It was in a long video posted on TikTok that Squeezie returned in detail to the controversial forum originally signed by 150 influencers. After integrating the signatory list, the content creator unchecked the words of the text. Now, only about 130 names associated with the grandstand remain.

It is the Union of Influencers and Content Creators (Umicc) that is at the origin of this forum. This federation – which today laments a “badly perceived” text – was created at the beginning of the year and brings together various agencies that represent influencers. It arose as part of an attempt to legislate the sector of influence. Thus, the Umicc has become the main interlocutor of the government and of the deputies that carry out a framework law for the environment, recalls Squeezie in his video.

“Avoid clumsy amendments”

The only problem, the arrival of the text in the National Assembly generated the creation of more than 170 reforms, which aim to correct or adapt the bill. But part of these amendments show “a total misunderstanding” of the activity of influencers, laments the videographer. Given this, Umicc feels misunderstood and tries to educate through its platform.

“You can almost believe that it is an attempt by the ‘influvoleurs’ to limit the breakage,” denounces even Squeezie. Because at the origin of the law to regulate influencers, many excesses have shaken the sector. The term “influvoleurs” was also chosen by the Collective to help victims of influencers in a complaint filed for fraud in an organized gang, in January.

After having explained the entire context, the youtuber returns to his signature. Already in a post on Twitter, Squeezie had admitted not having read the forum before agreeing to sign it. This time, he clarifies that this agreement is just a “yes ok” in a WhatsApp conversation with his agent, whom the creator “trusts”.

“Frame It All”

“The people behind this platform screwed up, it’s a fact. But if this bad move erases all the work they have been doing for months in the shadows with the deputies to regulate our environment, go and smoke the guys who are ripping off or just not advertise the associations, to frame it all? I don’t think so,” continues the content creator.

It ends with the risky moment of this platform. “Who cares about the fate of influencers at a time when millions of French people are fighting against the pension reform, which affects us all? Nobody,” he says. Many have criticized him on social media for taking a position on influencer reform, but not on the pension issue.
