Payment is now the norm. On Twitter, now only paid users can use the famous blue badge of the social network. Previously reserved only for accounts certified in the name of their notoriety, this distinction is now nothing more than a simple “proof of payment”.
The only problem, Elon Musk’s promise to retire badges from people who earned them outside of the Twitter Blue framework didn’t follow through. Set for April 1, this general suppression gave way to a new message to explain in what capacity the certification was issued.
The blur is total
Last week, this technique made it possible to distinguish the real certifications of users who paid eight dollars. But with a single message, the blur is now total.
The “Eight Dollars” Chrome browser extension was also a way to resolve the blue badges. Indicates the mention “Paid” and “Verified” next to the badges according to the method of obtaining. But its results are now much less satisfactory. As the page refreshes, some accounts see the mention change.
However, Twitter’s maneuver is explained by the need to attract subscribers. Until now, many users who opted for Twitter Blue were teased when posting. It is not encouraging to join the device. In February, only 180,000 US accounts had chosen Twitter Blue.
