“You have just responded at this moment to deputy 578 since the response that I just requested was written by ChatGPT.” This April 4, the deputy Hervé Sauligac (Nupes) questioned the Delegate Minister of Digital about the challenges posed by the advancement of artificial intelligence, before admitting to him that the ChatGPT chatbot had written his question to the government, in a public session in the Assembly National. .

Formulated moments before, the question referred to the existence of a “government strategy to face these challenges, particularly in terms of investment, research and training.”
In response, the Delegate Minister for Digital Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, returned to the European regulation that is being drawn up. A text that aims to regulate the development of artificial intelligence, prohibiting certain investigations on the most sensitive topics.
This is not the first time that ChatGPT has broken into the National Assembly. At the end of March, an amendment drafted by the chatbot was debated in a public session (and rejected), during the study of the text regarding the use of “smart” surveillance cameras during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The amendment was then presented . on the initiative of Deputy Jean-Félix Acquaviva (Freedoms, Independents, Overseas and Territories).
