23,000 euros in sex toys: Ukrainian hackers hacked a Russian “war fund”

To support the invasion in Ukraine, an influencer promoting the Russian army raises funds. Ukrainian activists managed to divert the kitten to buy €23,000 worth of sex toys.

Make love Not War. The famous pacifist slogan has never been more topical for the war in Ukraine. A Russian influencer has organized a fundraiser to supply Russian soldiers on the battlefield. But Ukrainian hackers managed to embezzle the money. Instead of buying drones, they preferred to order sex toys.

A follower of Russian propaganda, Mikhail Luchin broadcasts orders online as soon as he can to equip his army on the front lines, says Numerama. His calls for donations from him were noted by the Ukrainian Cyber Resistance collective. This is what prompted Ukrainian hackers to try to hack into your AliExpress account.

A basket of 23,000 euros

Without detailing their method, the Ukrainian hackers managed to identify themselves to the influencer’s account, armed with their banking information. They then browsed the Chinese online sales site to fill their basket with sex toys. In total, the bill amounts to more than 23,000 euros.

This sum was initially intended to purchase drones, particularly useful at the front. Mikhail Luchin confirmed the hacking of his email address as well as his AliExpress account, Numerama says. The Russian influencer also said that he had recovered part of the embezzled money.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, cyber attacks have been part of the trappings of Russian and Ukrainian forces. For more than a year, drones, disinformation or SpaceX’s satellite network, Starlink, have been weapons over which both sides have been fighting.
