“Hello, my name is Luis and today we’re leaving…”, exclaims the Italian YouTuber Luis in the introduction to his latest video before letting himself be carried away by the crowd and the police. A video frame that he had enough to make French netizens laugh.
Indeed, the youtuber has decided to try the best croissants in Paris, all this in the middle of a day of mobilization against the pension reform. Picked up on Twitter, various excerpts from the video of him now rack up nearly a million views, not counting the 500,000 views on YouTube.
“Follow the example of the French”
Evaluating the crispness, the presence of butter and the crumbs left by the croissants, Luis goes through the pastry tastings in front of the different bakeries but also in the middle of the processions, with garbage cans on fire and other barricades in the background. The video even ends with his ranking revealed to the beat of police gunshots.
A decoration that was not really planned, Luis told Tech&Co: “The idea of the video was to be as real and transparent as possible with the public so that they could ‘savor’ the experience like me. The objective was that my ranking of the best croissant it does not influence the opinion of others”, explains the youtuber.
The youtuber didn’t really explain whether or not he was aware of the strikes currently taking place in France. But Luis also affirms to Tech & Co his support for the current movement: “The whole world should follow the example of the French in their way of managing their discontent… and of making croissants.”
