There will be a second Chinese version of ChatGPT coming soon. After Baidu’s version, dubbed Ernie Bot, it’s up to Alibaba to show off his ambitions to design an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot. The cloud division of the Chinese company is working on a solution, reports the British media BBC.
The device is called Tongyi Qianwen, which can be translated as “seeking an answer by asking a thousand questions.” The functions associated with Tongyi Qianwen remain similar to those of ChatGPT. Thus, it will allow you to transcribe the conversations of a meeting in a note, write emails or commercial proposals.
Software integration
The tool is to be integrated in “the near future” into Alibaba’s various activities. Initially, it will join the DingTalk app, a Chinese competitor to Microsoft Teams. Subsequently, the group’s voice assistant, Tmall Genie, will also benefit from the chatbot.
This strategy is reminiscent of that of Microsoft, which entered into a multi-billion dollar partnership with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. The American computer giant has integrated the artificial intelligence model into its software, such as Excel, Outlook or Powerpoint.
Whether Alibaba’s solution will experience Baidu’s hiccups remains to be seen. While Ernie Bot has no official apps, developers have tried to fill the gap by posting fake apps on the App Store. Therefore, Baidu, the Chinese equivalent of Google, was forced to sue Apple.
