After the fifth version of Midjourney, it’s Nijijourney’s turn to get a V5. Integrated with the artificial intelligence image generator, this module is dedicated to manga creations. Instead of getting realistic images, this option brings back the aesthetics of Japanese comics.
Available since April 4, this new version was announced on the company’s Discord Midjourney. It is also on this same server where creative proposals are sent.
Adjust the degree of stylization
When requesting, it is enough to add the command “-niji 5”, or “-niji 4” to use the previous version of Nijijourney, indicates the specialized site Numerama. Previously you will have to activate the option in the settings, which are found through the “/settings” command.
The degree of stylization is customizable. By default it is set to 100, but it is possible to vary this value to create more or less marked visuals. On Twitter, for example, an Internet user entered the same request by setting the stylization degree to 50 on the left (with the “-s 50” command), then to 400 on the right (with the “-400” command). .
As Numerama points out, the results often reflect the aesthetic of Japanese animated films, with Studio Ghibli in mind. The site still points to more difficulty with demanding requests. A fact that is explained by the lower presence of manga images and drawings on the net than of realistic photographs, taken up by Midjourney for his montages.
In March, a first manga was born entirely generated thanks to the Nijijourney module. The publication of the book, “Cyberpunk: Peach John”, had created controversy in Japan, the country of manga.
