TousAntiCovid, the application most downloaded by the French in 2021, has disappeared from the radar. Instead, messengers and social networks continue to rise to the top of the rankings. WhatsApp, TikTok and Doctolib make up the top 3, according to the study on digital uses carried out by Arcep and Arcom, published on April 11.
The ranking is marked by the arrival in 6th position of Lidl Plus, which allows you to benefit from discounts and advantages in the brand’s stores. Just behind we find CapCut, a video and photo editing application from the Chinese giant ByteDance, especially prominent on the group’s flagship platform, TikTok. Waze, the GPS that allows you to avoid traffic jams and the encrypted messaging of Telegram are also on the agenda, while Facebook continues to fall. These figures come from a study by data.ai, published on January 11.
WhatsApp or Telegram applications are increasingly used as the main communication tool. Instagram, TikTok or Snapchat also offer their own integrated messaging. Thus, 79% of people over the age of 12 use these applications to exchange messages, including 52% daily, an increase of 9% in one year.
Sign of the end of the SMS, who turned 30 last December? In 2021, among 16-24 year olds, online messaging usage increased 54% in one year, while SMS usage fell 29%.
These apps are also increasingly being used to make calls: 69% of users over the age of 12 make phone calls this way. The main uses of the phone now go through third-party applications.
The smartphone continues to be the preferred tool for connecting to the Internet: for 47% of users compared to 41% in 2021. It should also be noted that social networks represent 64% of online photo searches.
